I am wondering if anyone will complain about the Simpsons that re-ran last night at either 5 or 5:30 on UPN50. The episode is where Homer and Ned go to Las Vegas, and they get married to some women while they are drunk and don't remember. Anyway, at the beginning of the episode, they explode (instead of implode) the local casino, and after this happens, they show a bunch of people running away from the cloud of smoke coming down the streets, reminiscent of the scenes on September 11th.

Not that I think that the episode makes fun of or diminishes the effects of September 11th, just something I noticed, and wondered if people would complain about it, since they complained about that Starbucks ad recently.

More on the Rio de Janeiro story. Producer James Brooks has now offered an apology to the city.

The city of Rio de Janeiro wants to seek legal action against The Simpsons. Apparently, the tourist board does not have a sense of humor...

I thought that this week’s episode was better than most of this season has been. Homer’s snoring problem forces Marge over to her sister’s house (watch out for the bolt cutters!!) to get a good nights sleep. Marge gets drunk and sends an email to her high school prom date, Artie, who has been thinking about Marge, “the last twenty years.” Artie offers them a million dollars for a weekend with Marge. Stop right there, wasn’t this idea thrown out there during Homer and Marge’s high school reunion episode?

The problem I’m having with this season, is that most of the ideas for the episodes seem to be from previous episodes. I understand that the Simpsons have been around for a while, and it’s hard to come up with new ideas. Its just that I’ve come to expect more from the Simpsons. Oh well, the funny parts of the Simpsons are the stuff that happen around the plot.

Lenny: There’s nothing on that helicopter for me.
Carl: Don’t be too sure!
Lenny: Carl Carlson!!

Ewwww!

This weeks episode was a little better than last weeks, but I still think that they're just rehashing old story lines. Homer becoming normal and then having someone not like him is awfully reminicent of the episode where he had the crayon removed from his brain and had nobody like him.

One nice touch though was during the scene where Dr. Hibert was showing the x-ray of Homer's jaw, you could see the crayon still in there!!

I was a little disappointed in the Simpson’s episode the other night. To be honest, the whole season has been a little off so far. Sure, there are moments in each episode that make me laugh, but as a whole, there just seems to be something missing, and I’m not sure what it is. Sunday’s episode in which Homer is trying to get into the Duff book of records starts out OK, but by the end of the show it reverts back to a beer baronesque sequence where Homer is trying to smuggle in sugar. I hope the rest of the season shows a little more promise.

Quote of the day (in honor of Michigan's Opening Day of Rifle Hunting Season):
Homer: "What's wrong with hunting?"
Bart: "A bunch of guys, alone, in the woods? I don't know. It seems sort of gay to me."

According to "Entertainment Weekly", the episode "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" has been pulled from syndication. As you may recall, this was the episode in which Homer has to claim his car, which was illegally parked in front of the World Trade Center.
